Ethics to follow in Chess - Proper terms to use in the Chess field
Chess is the only game in this world which can be played on mere intelligence of a person. Many Handicaps are seen playing Chess in various tournaments all over the world. It is this game which has helped them cope with life’s difficulties. Though the game has given a lot of happiness to us, yet we sometimes forget to respect the game. The words & terminology in Chess is unique which should be strictly obeyed. Here are a few very common mistakes we do while speaking about Chess. 1. A ‘Game’ of Chess Should Not Be Called as a ‘Match’. 2. Don’t Say the Words like ‘Competition’ for a ‘Tournament’. 3. A Move In Chess Should Be Said As ‘Invalid Move’ & Not ‘Illegal Move’. 4. ‘Illegal’ Means Something Which Is Prohibited Or Unlawful According To The Court Of A Country. Is Any Move In Chess Really ‘Illegal’ - Is It A Crime Or Is It Punishable By Court? Game of Chess Can Not Have ‘Laws’ - It Only Can Have ‘Rules’.!! 7. The Word ‘Arbiter’ Should Be Used Instead Of ‘Umpire’ Or ‘Referee’. 8. ‘Pairing’ Is a Proper Word Instead Of ‘Draw’ or ’List’. 9. 3 -1 rule in chess must be preferred in Tournaments to increase attacking chess & reduce bore draws. This will change people’s attitude towards easy & safe fixed draws & sponsors will be attracted towards such an exciting game. A Game of Chess must be played for a win & not a draw. According to this system, a player must get 1. 3 POINTS FOR A WIN. 2. 1 POINT FOR A DRAW. 3. NO POINTS FOR A LOSS. |
